Doom And Gloom

I fell pretty hard and melted into a puddled mess of love for every last one of these gloomy girls and want nothing more than to have the full collection of doomers (and at eighteen bucks a pop, I think it's quite a doable deed) because we all need to be reminded that sometimes it just feels so good to be bad.

Think Pink

Upon seeing this pinked-out picture of Ms. Love, all I can think about now is putting pretty flowers around and around this pixied head o' mine and a blushed red hue smudged all over my big ol' eyes (and lips and cheeks) and topping it off with gobs and gobs of black mascara.

Living In Pictures

I love the element of the unexpected, of surprise, especially when it comes on a ho-hum blustery April afternoon in my living room, on my TV screen and in the form of a great (and quite stylish) little movie-that-could that I just so happened to select with my remote control.

From the very first scene, Purple Violets pulled me in with Selma Blair's every outfit.  From what looked to be the coziest of all wraparound sweaters and jeans tucked into comfy brown boots to the oh-so-chic form-fitting turtlenecks and boleros - and then for the icing on this cake of a flick - was to complete every last one with KILLER coats (the army green pea/trench and the tweed-ish darling alone had me picking my jaw up off the floor)

To say I wanted to literally jump into my screen (in either her Chuck Taylors or oxfords) just so I could pretend to be her character and live in those ensembles (and to have Patrick Wilson be infatuated with me would be a nice bonus) would be the understatement of the decade.

So rent, redbox or Netflix this so we can fight over who gets to wear their pretend outfit first.

Such Great Heights

Picked me up some perfectly platformed pretties from Nine West for nineteen ninety nine (!) at my favorite place for all kinds of steals and deals - TJ Maxx

You should go too.

Triple Threat

1. Am now thoroughly convinced I should continue my dream of dying my hair to a platinum shade.

2.  I want to do absolutely nothing else but try my darndest to mimic that oh-so-rockin' eye makeup.

3.  Now more certain than ever that I should be wearing red lipstick every day.  Just because I can.

Wall Art

I've always thought one of the prettiest decorating ideas comes from hanging your favorite pieces of clothing on the wall to serve as the actual art (the above picture being no exception) and upon seeing this one particularly pretty dress below, I think I may just have to find some wall space for the little lovely:

Image Inspiration

You just never know when and where your next style or fashion inspiration will hit.

This incredible image literally stopped me in my tracks as soon as I laid eyes on it.  I did nothing but stare and stare and stare at my screen (for what seemed like days) drinking it all in: the draping, the folds, the organic flow of the fabric.  Just breathtaking.

Entranced, I let my mind wander and thought how pretty it would be to find a dress (or two or three or four) that fell so gingerly around a form just like this origami-like installation.

And with the help of a TeenAngster feature (and source) and ASOS, I found just what I had been looking for and all the inspiration one bargain-hunting fashionista could ever need:

{the baby got back -and sadly out of stock - dress that started it all}

Like I said, inspiration (and a reason to start pinchin' my pennies) for days.
... and days, and days and days ...

Lucky Charm

Just a few days ago, I found and discovered my newest and most lovely little lucky charm in the form of a sweet tweet that was kindly sent my way announcing that I was now being followed by the genius and getter-of-all-things-gorgeous from Lucky Rabbit Shoppe.

And to show my appreciation (and non-stop clicking patronage) I wanted to spotlight my pick for the most perfect of outfits my vintage-loving eyes ever did see.  Seriously.  No joke.  Just look at it:

{the retro-ish vibe these scream with their clip-on backs makes me swoon}

{who doesn't need a flowy, billowy pretty of a dress?}

{not to mention the most perfect of pins}

{animal print? check. envelope clutch? double check.}

{I now know what Cinderella's stepsisters felt like when the glass slipper didn't fit - I'm sadly two sizes up from these pretties}

So be sure to drop by and see what she has just waiting for you to snatch up and have hanging in your own closet before your luck runs out (eep!) hurry ... GO!

Lounge Act

I scored this darling little t-shirt-ish dress in the 'Lounge & Sleep' section at my local Old Navy for a teeny-tiny (on sale) ten dollar price tag.

And I just gotta ask ... what do you think about me wanting to turn this "nightie" into a day dress by cinching it up with a belt and then throwing a blazer right on top of it and walking out the door? (preferably with some stylin' shoes on my feet as well)

Yes?  No?  Maybe so?
(Please check the applicable virtual box now by leaving your vote in the comment section below)

  Have you ever done something like that too?  Please ... I gots to know.

Thanks much-ly.

Ear-To-Ear Grin

Something about this fella's dimpled and 'stached smile tells me he totally knows the secret to style: from the hat in his hand and that part in his hair to the tats (I'm telling you - something about 'arm art' gets me and my ticker all a-flutter) and rolled up shirt sleeves, skinny striped tie, slacks and unassumingly gorgeous shoes.

Yep.  Most definitely steppin' (get it? 'cause he's sittin' on the front steps?! ha ha) out in style.  Yes siree.

Don't worry, my moustached mister ... your secret is safe with me.

Ruffled Fashion Feathers

Sometimes a girl just wants to wear ruffles.

Like daily.

And forever.

Pretty Party

Do you ever see a picture of a party's table setting and secretly wish that you had been invited?  I certainly do (and did just that) when I laid my eyes upon this lovely little breakfast with fresh, adorable, teeny-tiny pancakes (thanks ever-so-much-ly to design*sponge) surrounded by sweet and spring-y sorbet shades.

I even went so far as to come up with my very own make-believe attire (and yes, in my imagination, my pretty little pennies are quite abundant and know no budget-y bounds) that I would have donned had I had my very own seat at this particularly pretty little table:

So tell me ... if you were invited to such a sweet little soiree ... and if money were nothing but a silly little number that you giggled with glee at in this fashion-y fantasy world ... what would YOU be wearing as you sipped lemonades and danced barefoot in the grass?

Once Bitten ...

... Twice more likely to buy.

Isn't that how the saying goes?  No?  Well, that's my new motto (ahem, excuse) when it comes to wanting to shop exclusively (and maybe even excessively) for all things vintage.  Yep.  I've been bitten by that must-click-the-buy-button-now bug and I have her, her and now her to blame (or should I say thank) for it.

With my wardrobe wound(s) still being so fresh, no one even warned me of the possible side effect of the letter 'J'  becoming my most favorite in the alphabet too.  Why such an odd symptom, you ask?  It could just be my fashion-y fever talking, but after you see what I've seen, you may find I'm not so delirious after all:

See what I mean?  JessJamesJake and her pretty little things in her pretty little Etsy shop may just prove to be exactly the prescription I need to get my back on my fashion-filled feet and live to see another shop-click-buy kind of day.

Who knows ... it could even possibly be just what the doctor ordered.

P.S.  If all that wasn't enough, she even has a blog (!)
(and her mama's got a shop too - must run in the vintage-y veins)

Something Blue

Spring is definitely having a hard time waking from her slumber around these parts so I thought I'd try and coax her out with something blue-ish to remind her of all the pretty hued skies she's been missing ... and I think this oh-so-pretty twenty four dollar jewel just might do the trick ...

Kiss The Cook?

This may be the understatement of the century for anyone who knows me, but ... are you ready for it ... I am not a cook.  I know.  Shocker.  But when I saw this oh-so-darling retro-ish and vintage-vibed apron, I couldn't help but imagine myself stylishly tied into it twirling about the kitchen (even if it is to make nothing more than toast or heating up a can of soup - you should see what I can do with a little sprinkling of cheese - it's almost life-changing, almost)

Anyway ... isn't it the thought that counts when it comes to cooking?  And I've heard all my life is that nothing tastes as good then when it's made with love, so ... if I pour you a nice big bowl of cereal with milk in this adorable apron that I love ... isn't that close enough?

Grey Matters

When I first looked at this ensemble, it screamed: COMFORT!
From its boyfriend blazer and jeans to its sweatshirt-y top and then to oh-so-cleverly pair it with pretty pretty patent accessories (and a knee peek of black leggings underneath)? So cooly chic.  This may be the most perfect outfit ever put together, so naturally it's today's look-for-less:

forty nine and ninety nine cent linen boyfriend blazer
- the oh-so-perfect topper to any outfit-

thirty eight dollar truly madly deeply 80s sweatshirt
- I switched it to a rounded crewneck collar for an interpretation twist -

twenty nine dollar and ninety nine cent patent croc handbag
- although the bag is leather in the above photo, I wanted to pair my patents together -

thirty four dollar and fifty cent women's weekend jeans
- my tried-and-true everday pair of denim -

twenty three dollar and sixty cent patent zipper trim bootie
- the can-never-go-wrong classic patent pair -

And the best part of all?  I already have most of the pieces needed to create this comfy-cozy look in my closet, and I bet if you looked in yours, you'd notice that you already have just what you need to rock this look too!

California Dreamin'

calivintage, oh me oh my! This girly has style in spades. With every new post, I am more than certain that it is just impossible for her to come up with another darling outfit trumping the previous - but she does without fail!

I have absolutely no choice but to kneel in front of her majesty and bestow the highest honor today of being this (my) Wednesday's Website/Bloggity-Blog O' the Week.

Feel free to bow down to her greatness (and be not too jealous of those tats and that hair) with me as one of her most loyal of style subjects.

I'm just not worthy.
